Soccer Extreme
From The Desk of John Salvatore
I truly love the game of soccer, and if you are taking the time to read this, I am confident that you share my passion. The sport brings families together to experience the joy and excitement with their children. It has been part of my life for nearly 20 years, and my family has been there every step of the way. Soccer has taken me places that, as a young athlete, I could never have imagined. With commitment, hard work, and the proper support, it can take you to many of those same places too!
From my first introduction in prep school to my experience as goalkeeper for the nationally ranked University of Connecticut Huskies, I constantly sought to improve my skills. I later played as an A League professional and coached on the collegiate level at Yale. In 1992, I founded Soccer Extreme with the hopes of giving back to the youth game. My objective was to develop the finest curriculum possible and have it taught by an enthusiastic coaching staff. As we grew, Soccer Extreme became the first in the nation to introduce “customized training†and we enhanced the experience even further by hiring exceptional coaches from around the globe. Over the past decade, we have truly earned a reputation as innovators in youth soccer education.
Soccer Extreme History
When John Salvatore started playing soccer at the age of twelve, he never imagined it would change his life and determine his future. A highly recruited high school athlete, John elected to attend the University of Connecticut, where he played goalkeeper for the nationally ranked UCONN Huskies. John carried his talent and motivation from the field of play to the field of business during his senior year when he established Soccer Extreme in the summer of 1992. His objective was to educate youth in the game he loved. John graduated from UCONN with a business degree in 1993.
By the early 1990s, John Salvatore had established a successful retail store for soccer equipment and apparel. He had also begun forming an outstanding staff of both nationally and internationally licensed coaches. Soccer Extreme‘s camps were growing, but so was Johns desire to play competitive soccer once again. During this time, he began a five-year stint in the professional ranks as a goalkeeper for the Connecticut Wolves. While playing professionally, John continued running Soccer Extreme. During this period, he also accepted an offer to coach at the collegiate level. He began by coaching at the University of Hartford in 1993, and then moved on to coach at Yale University in 1994.
