Fatty's Ski & Boards
Started 40 years ago in 1968 and located on rt. 44 in Canton Ct. as the Sporthouse - we are the Farmington Valleys oldest ski and snowboard shop.
Unfortunately up until a few years ago skiers and riders were not able to show each other any love. So in 1993 we opened Fattys Snowbords in New Hartford Ct., knowing it was only a matter of time before we could all love and respect one another - (basically just get along). After all, we're all in search of the same thing - peace, love, snow, and cheaper lift tickets. Anyhow Fattys stayed in New Hartford for about 5 years until we felt it was safe to move snowboards in our ski shop.
Today we enjoy a great relationship where skiers and riders come together to make up for lost time, check out the latest gear, participate in events such as our annual "Fattys Parking Lot Jib Jam" and just feel good. We will continue to love and respect our sport, and each other for the next 40 years, we promise.
So from all of us at Fattys Skis and Boards
Mission Statement
While we are all about peace, love, snow and cheaper lift tickets - we are also about the future of our sport, which we believe lies in the kids. We will continue to use their input and ideas about product, promotions, and trends. We will continue to do our part in bringing in what we feel is the best in gear, and continue sponsor events that promote the kids as well as our sport. We are also pushing what we call "East Coast Pride".
For years it's always been about the west, how good the snow is, how big the mountains are, and how great the talent is out there. Well lets get a few things straight- first of all- the conditions here are usually very good with the technology of snow farming getting better and better each year, and with the exception of last year, it usually snows a normal amount adding to the man made stuff- making it quite good .In a year like this with all the snow we've had it's actually killer, especially up north. As far as the mountains go, It's not so much the height as it is the terrain.
Any one who complains about Stratton, Killington, Sunday River, Sugarloaf, Mad River, Stowe, Sugarbush (on and on), should probably move out west because we don’t want you here anyhow. Now the talent level - With quite a big handful of kids from our own backyard (Sundown) we are actually getting on the map of up and coming new kids in films. Also remember what everyone considers sucky conditions on the east coast, only makes us all - better skiers and riders. So be proud of our terrain, and go out and ski and ride the EAST with PRIDE.
Our Friends at Sundown
What can we say? We love them. It's a great hill, with great grooming and snow making. Not to mention a great staff. We have partnered up with them for the past few years for our annual parking lot rail jam, and every year it gets better. This year we are hosting a series of events up there called the Fattys Underdog Team Point Series taking place every other Sunday thru march 23rd. We will have different manufacturers there
With demos, give aways, burgers for the teams, music, and good times. As Jarrod says-"YAY". So join us up there, we're always there.
