About the Author
Avery D. Faigenbaum, Ed.D., CSCS, is an associate professor in the Department of Health and Exercise Science at The College of New Jersey. He is a leading researcher and practitioner in the field of strength and conditioning and lectures across the country to fitness and sports medicine organizations. He is a Fellow of the American College of Sports Medicine and a member of the Board of Directors of the National Strength and Conditioning Association. Faigenbaum has published over 100 articles on fitness and conditioning and in the author of two books.

Wayne L. Westcott, Ph.D. is the fitness research director at the South Shore YMCA in Quincy, Massachusetts. He is recognized as a leading authority on fitness and has served as a strength training consultant for numerous professional organizations, including the President’s Council on Physical Fitness ands Sports, American Council on Exercise, the YMCA of the USA, and the U. S. Navy. Dr. Westcott has authored twenty books on strength training and published more than 400 articles in professional journals.
